About The Role
We’re seeking a Health Coach to join our team and play a key role in supporting patients who are using XRHealth’s VR therapy platform. This is
not a clinical role. As a Health Coach, you will not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or therapy. Instead, you will serve as a trusted
support partner, helping patients
build healthy habits, stay
engaged in their prescribed VR program, and navigate their care journey with
encouragement and accountability.
This is a
hybrid position based in
Needham, MA, requiring in-office presence 3 days a week for team collaboration and onboarding initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Patient Engagement & Retention
- Serve as the patient’s point of contact for non-clinical support during their therapy program
- Keep patients motivated to continue their DME-prescribed VR sessions through consistent outreach and positive encouragement
- Behavior Change Support
- Use coaching techniques like motivational interviewing and goal-setting to empower behavior change
- Help patients translate their clinician’s guidance into day-to-day actions, routines, and habits
- Education & Navigation
- Help patients understand how to use XRHealth’s VR platform and navigate key aspects of their DME experience
- Share relevant health and wellness tips (within scope) to support overall engagement
- Progress Monitoring (Non-Clinical)
- Track patient adherence and utilization data within the platform
- Escalate any clinical concerns or signs of risk to licensed clinicians following established protocols
- Collaborative Support
- Coordinate with customer support, technical onboarding, and clinical operations (without clinical decision-making) to ensure smooth patient experiences
- Flexible Support Hours
- Evening and/or weekend availability is occasionally required to meet the scheduling needs of patients
Who You Are
- Passionate about patient-centered care and behavior change
- Skilled in communication and coaching, with a naturally empathetic and motivating style
- Excited by technology and eager to work with immersive tools like VR in a care setting
- Clear on professional boundaries between coaching and clinical care—and committed to staying within your lane while working closely with clinical teammates
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Psychology, Exercise Physiology, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in health coaching, patient engagement, care navigation, or wellness roles
- Experience using behavior change models (e.g., stages of change, motivational interviewing)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable using digital platforms and tracking tools
Preferred:
- Current students or recent graduates of psychology or social work programs are encouraged to apply and will be considered a plus
- National Health Coach certification (e.g., NBC-HWC, ACE, Wellcoaches)
- Experience supporting DME programs, telehealth patients, or remote care populations
- Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant documentation
- Background in digital health, digital therapeutics, or tech-forward wellness programs
