Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The Opportunity:
The Director, Independent Medical Education (IME), Grants & Investigator-Sponsored Trials (ISTs) will lead the strategy, oversight, and execution of Revolution Medicines' independent medical education programs, grants, and IST processes across all assets and therapeutic areas. This role will ensure scientific rigor, compliance, and alignment with company and external regulatory guidelines. The individual will report to the Head of Medical Excellence and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive excellence in medical education and research partnerships.
Key responsibilities include:
Independent Medical Education (IME) & Continuing Medical Education (CME) Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IME/CME strategy aligned with Revolution Medicines' scientific and educational priorities.
- Oversee the review, approval, and execution of independent medical education initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, and industry standards.
- Establish partnerships with medical education providers, professional societies, and academic institutions to support high-quality educational programs.
- Monitor educational gaps, learning objectives, and emerging scientific trends to ensure content relevance and impact.
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of IME/CME programs, measuring outcomes and reporting impact to internal stakeholders.
Grants Management & Oversight
- Lead the strategic evaluation and management of medical education grants in alignment with company priorities.
- Develop a governance structure for reviewing, funding, and tracking grants, ensuring transparency and compliance with applicable guidelines (e.g., ACCME, PhRMA Code, FDA, and OIG).
- Work cross-functionally with Compliance, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure appropriate documentation, reporting, and audit readiness for medical grants.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external organizations requesting grants, providing guidance on company policies and funding priorities.
Investigator-Sponsored Trials (ISTs) Program Leadership
- Develop and oversee the end-to-end IST process, including proposal review, approval, funding, execution, and publication planning.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Communications) to establish clear IST governance, review criteria, and execution frameworks.
- Ensure that ISTs align with scientific and strategic objectives while maintaining compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Monitor ongoing IST progress, ensuring milestone tracking, study reporting, and data dissemination.
- Develop strategies to optimize IST program efficiency, including systematic tracking of proposals, funding allocations, and study outcomes.
Cross-Functional & External Stakeholder Collaboration
- Serve as a key point of contact for medical education and IST-related interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and other teams to align educational and research funding with strategic priorities.
- Build relationships with external medical and scientific communities, including medical societies, KOLs, academic researchers, and educational providers.
- Ensure timely and transparent communication with investigators and grant recipients, maintaining strong external partnerships.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:
- Advanced scientific or medical degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) preferred; MS or equivalent experience in biomedical sciences or related field considered.
- 10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Independent Medical Education, Grants Management, or Investigator-Sponsored Trials within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
- Deep understanding of IME/CME regulations, industry guidelines, and best practices (ACCME, PhRMA Code, FDA, OIG, AdvaMed, Sunshine Act).
- Proven ability to develop and execute medical education strategies aligned with company and scientific priorities.
- Strong expertise in grants governance, funding oversight, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in IST program leadership, including proposal review, funding allocation, and study execution.
- Ability to navigate cross-functional partnerships with Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, and Clinical teams.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to assess educational and research proposals for scientific merit and alignment.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience in oncology, precision medicine, or targeted therapies.
- Experience leading medical education initiatives and research collaborations in a global biotech/pharma environment.
- Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for medical education tracking, grant submissions, and IST management.
- Ability to optimize IME, grants, and IST processes for scalability and operational efficiency.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $204,000 to $255,000 for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA. The range displayed on each job posting is intended to be the salary for an individual working onsite in Redwood City and will be adjusted for the local market a candidate is based in. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, market dynamics, and relevant education or training.
