The Office of Dental Informatics and Digital Health (DIDH) at Indiana University School of Dentistry oversees the school's clinical information technology operations. The Office's primary goals are to implement new technology solutions and maintain existing technologies that support patient care, research, and administrative services. DIDH is responsible for creating an infrastructure to integrate data originating from different data sources; sharing data in an analyzable format for patient care, education, administrative, and research purposes; creating data-sharing policies to comply with university, state; and federal regulations; improving data capture and monitor data quality and supporting IUSD's focus on person-centered care.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides the highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to support Dental Informatics and Digital Health day-to-day responsibilities and operations.
- Identifies operational issues and/or areas of improvement and implements solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency.
- Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff; establishes work priorities; conducts performance reviews; and provides corrective action as needed.
- Conducts research on programs and services, protocols/processes, and/or standards supporting IUSD clinical IT operations and enhancing patient care, education and research portfolios.
- Responsible for implementing new digital health solutions and technologies to address business needs.
- Supports Associate Dean with short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives.
- Supports Associate Dean with budget management for resource needs and ensures cost containment.
General Responsibilities
- Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define various information technology methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority information technology projects/initiatives.
- Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase information technology initiatives.
- Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
- Manages high level assignments and allocation of technical resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams.
- Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
- Works collaboratively with other information technology leaders in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
- Conducts research on emerging technologies, services, protocols/processes, and/or standards in support of information technology goals and efforts; responsible for the implementation of new information technology solutions/procedures to address business needs.
- Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees and task forces related to information technology.

EDUCATION

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE
- 4 years of multi-faceted information technology experience
- 1 year of management experience

- 4 years of managing clinical IT operations in a healthcare system to optimize patient care

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year based on experience.
