Overview:
NJEdge.NET, Inc. (Edge) is a nonprofit technology consortium that empowers higher education, K–12, healthcare, government, and nonprofit institutions with innovative, secure, and advanced technology solutions. As a member-driven 501(c)(3) organization, Edge fosters digital transformation, research and education network infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, data analytics, and enterprise solutions to improve institutional effectiveness and learner outcomes across the region.
Position Summary:
The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the chief executive and strategic leader of NJEdge.NET, Inc., responsible for advancing its mission, ensuring sustainable growth, and maintaining excellence in solution and service delivery. The CEO reports to the Board of Trustees and oversees all aspects of strategy, operations, finance, external relations, and staff leadership. This individual will be a visionary, collaborative, and mission-driven executive capable of leading innovation at the intersection of technology and education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Provide vision and direction to advance Edge’s mission and long-term strategic goals.
- Lead the development and execution of strategic plans in alignment with member and market needs.
- Drive innovation and thought leadership in digital transformation, research and education networks, and advanced technologies.
- Drive digital transformation and organizational change initiatives across a diverse stakeholder environment, including public and private sector partners.
Board and Governance Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Trustees.
- Provide regular updates on organizational performance, risk management, and strategic initiatives.
- Assist in Board development, including governance best practices and trustee engagement.
Financial and Operational Oversight
- Ensure fiscal responsibility, including budgeting, financial reporting, and audit compliance.
- Manage revenue generation, cost control, and funding diversification, including grants and partnerships.
- Oversee operational excellence, including IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud operations, and project management.
External Relations and Partnerships
- Serve as the public face and chief advocate of Edge to members, policymakers, funders, and partners.
- Cultivate relationships with higher education, government, nonprofit, and corporate sectors to expand impact.
- Promote Edge’s value proposition through speaking engagements, strategic collaborations, and national representation.
- Lead national collaborations and research initiatives in high-performance computing (HPC) and network-enabled academic research.
- Build strategic partnerships with higher education institutions, government agencies, technology providers, and funding organizations to advance the organization's mission.
Organizational Culture and Talent Management
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and inclusion.
- Lead a high-performing executive team and ensure talent development at all levels.
- Promote staff well-being, ethical leadership, and professional growth.
- Champion inclusive technology access and data-driven innovation across member institutions, stakeholders, and research communities.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and IRS 501(c)(3) requirements.
- Maintain policies and controls that mitigate organizational risk and ensure data privacy and security.
- Maintain a culture of cybersecurity excellence, risk-informed decision-making, and IT governance aligned with industry best practices and compliance standards.
Qualifications:
Education
- Master’s degree required; doctorate or dissertation phase preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 10–15 years of senior executive experience in technology leadership, higher education, technology solutions and services, or a closely related field.
- Proven success in strategic planning, organizational development, and revenue generation.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing equitable access to technology and fostering innovation in support of public good and scholarly advancement.
