Position Summary:
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) will play a critical role in driving the strategic vision and operational excellence of our bank. This role demands a strategic thinker and doer who can lead the modernization of our IT systems, grow our deposit base, and ensure operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive banking experience, a deep understanding of various bank functions, and the ability to foresee and shape the future of community banking.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the bank’s deposit base.
- Lead the modernization of the bank’s IT systems to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Drive the bank’s strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall vision and goals.
- Act as a thought leader in branch banking, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with regulations.
- Implement best practices in operations, aiming to set new standards in the industry.
- Manage and optimize operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Technology and Innovation:
- Spearhead the adoption of innovative technologies to improve banking operations and customer service.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure cybersecurity measures are robust and up-to-date.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives to keep the bank at the forefront of the industry.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments such as audits, fraud prevention, SOX compliance, IT, cybersecurity, social media, project management, and budgeting.
- Ensure seamless integration of operations with other bank functions to enhance overall performance.
Community and Customer Focus:
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain customers through technology and incentives.
- Maintain a strong commitment to customer care, ensuring the bank’s services meet the needs of the community.
- Champion initiatives that support the unbanked and underbanked populations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a senior operations role within the banking industry.
- Deep understanding of bank functions, including audits, fraud prevention, SOX compliance, IT, cybersecurity, social media, project management, and budgeting.
- Demonstrated success in growing a bank’s deposit base.
- Experience in modernizing IT systems and driving digital transformation.
