Billing Assistant / Accounts Receivable - The Billing Assistant/Accounts Receivable rep provides high-quality services to patients, contracted occupational health accounts, and insurance companies including Worker's Compensation Claims.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience working with health insurance plans, required
- Minimum one year of collections and accounts receivable experience, required
- Experience working with an EMR system strongly preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with patients and team members
Pay and Benefits:
- $18 - $22+ /hr - DOE
- Full-Time Benefits Eligible

Schedule:
- Full-time, ~40 hrs/week
- Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
In-Person Position:

What We Need: We are currently seeking customer service-driven, and team-oriented individuals who have good communication skills, the ability to take high call volumes, accurately explain account balances, excellent phone etiquette, and can work independently to serve the needs of our patients and occupational account reps over the phone.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Attention to detail is a must. The Billing Assistant/AR role will be the primary contact for the patient billing line, confirming insurances, obtaining authorizations, troubleshooting billing issues, and responding to requests in a timely manner.
- Provide patients, insurance companies, workers' compensation representatives, contracted occupational health accounts, and adjusters with HIPAA-compliant information as needed.
- Oversight of patient accounts and occupational health account receivable totals.
- Ability to verbally summarize and give details to patients regarding their EOB and coverages. Address and correct data for rebilling as necessary.
- Documenting all correspondences with patients completely in the EMR system.
- Collecting patient payments over the phone and mailed checks. Allocated as needed to the appropriate account.
- Initiating payment plans, and setting recurring charges to aging accounts.
- Assisting account managers in offsite reports including but not limited to, calendar invites, inputting results, sending to the employer as needed, and total billing at contracted discounted rates.
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Accounts Payable department in regards to obtaining results needed to pay bills.
- Maintaining logs and audit sheets where results are not sent or wrong testing was done.
- Attend client meetings to serve as a liaison to discuss medical services and make the appropriate protocol changes and updates as necessary.
- Creating, sending, and receiving OccMed invoices/payments via mail or digital CC on file.
- Making OccMed AP calls to collect on past due payments aging 60+ days.
