Overview
Join our growing team at My Baby My Way Foundation, where we are redefining maternal health and wellness for BIPOC women and underserved communities across California. As a Maternal & Reproductive Health CHW Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in community health education, advocacy, and digital health outreach, while working alongside experienced staff.
This is a structured educational internship designed to provide a learning experience similar to what would be offered in an educational environment. The intern is the primary beneficiary of this experience. Bilingual a plus, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
California residents only. This is a remote, part-time Fall Internship (~10-12 weeks).
Upon successful completion of 120 hours, interns are eligible to receive a $750 stipend (optional, if requested).
Learning Outcomes
Through this internship, you will:
Gain experience in maternal and reproductive health education
Learn how to conduct community outreach and connect families to essential health services
Develop skills in health promotion and digital tools for maternal wellness
Build knowledge of public health systems (Medi-Cal, community supports, reproductive health resources)
Enhance your communication, advocacy, and service navigation skills through supervised projects and mentorship
Sample Intern Responsibilities
Provide culturally sensitive education on prenatal and postpartum care (under staff supervision)
Support birthing individuals in understanding birth plans, breastfeeding, and maternal rights
Assist in referring clients to reproductive health and mental health services (under staff guidance)
Participate in outreach activities to connect families with Medi-Cal and health appointments
Promote MyBabyMyWay.AI as a digital health resource for maternal wellness
Attend supervised training sessions and participate in weekly reflection meetings with staff
Training
All interns will complete a structured Community Health Worker (CHW) training program provided by My Baby My Way Foundation.
The training is staff-led and designed to provide educational enrichment aligned with public health competencies.
A certificate of completion is awarded if requirements are met.
Qualifications
Passionate about maternal health, equity, and advocacy
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Interest in health promotion, outreach, and community engagement
Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) a plus
Familiarity with the needs of BIPOC and low-income communities is a plus
FLSA & Educational Purpose Statement
This internship is designed as a structured learning experience led by experienced staff. Interns will gain practical public health skills, and the focus of the internship is on educational enrichment and professional development — not on displacing paid employees or performing core business functions.
Academic credit can be arranged in coordination with your college/university, if applicable.
Compensation
This internship is structured to meet FLSA guidelines.
