Reporting to the Executive Director, Field Medical Affairs, the Director/Sr. Director, Field Medical Effectiveness & Training, is a strategic leader responsible for enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of the Global Field Medical Affairs team. This role will lead the development and implementation of training, tools, systems, and processes that enable global field medical teams to deliver scientific value, engage with key stakeholders, and support the company’s medical strategy. This individual will play a key role in gathering field insights, developing strategic initiatives, overseeing learning and development, and measuring the effectiveness of global field medical teams.
This role can be based in our Waltham, MA headquarters or fully remote. Waltham-based employees are required to be on site 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and Implementing Field Medical Capabilities: This includes creating tools, resources, and training programs to enhance Field Medical team performance, including external expert engagement, and training on new and existing systems.
- Strategic Leadership: Partnering with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic initiatives that support Field Medical excellence, including improving operational efficiency, enhancing training programs, and implementing new tools.
- Training and Development: Design and oversee onboarding, continuous education, and competency development programs for Field Medical personnel ensuring that training content is scientifically rigorous, compliant, and aligned with therapeutic area strategies.
- Managing Field Medical Systems and Tools: Overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems and tools used by Field Medical teams, including CRM, data analytics platforms, and reporting tools while driving innovation in field engagement strategies and systems.
- Gathering Field Insights: Developing and implementing processes to gather valuable insights from field-based teams, translating those insights into actionable information for brand teams and other stakeholders.
- Measuring Field Medical Effectiveness: Designing and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and report on the performance, impact, and effectiveness of Field Medical teams.
- Ensuring Compliance and Best Practices: Working with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations, and facilitating consistency and best practice sharing across the Field Medical team.
- Staying Current with Scientific Advancements: Keeping abreast of medical and scientific developments, competitive landscape, and industry trends to inform Field Medical strategies and tactics.
- Open Territory Support: If needed, support priority HCP engagement activities in open MSL territories.
Qualifications:
- Requires an advanced scientific or clinical degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, OD, PA, DNP, MSN)
- 8 years of experience in Medical Affairs or Field Medical Affairs roles is preferred
- Prior field medical training and operations experience required
- Prior launch experience preferred
- Experience in a start-up, entrepreneurial environment preferred
- Proven track record of developing and implementing field medical strategies and programs
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations, including OIG, PhRMA, and global compliance standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Veeva), data analytics, and digital engagement tools preferred
- Experience with AI/ML in field medical affairs capacities preferred
- Excellent time management
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Excellent presentation skills

- The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
